Sea Mogul, Run due ,Calm me, Talk, Barrel Ear

a group exhibition present by Nonfrasa

Nonfrasa is delighted to present a group exhibition, ‘Sea Mogul, Run due ,Calm me, Talk, Barrel Ear’. This group exhibition delves into the reciprocity between language, symbolism, and the imperfections that arise when words falter. Paraphasia, a linguistic phenomenon where unintended syllables or phrases emerge, disrupts the expected flow of communication. Yet, within this disruption lies a peculiar beauty, a space where misplaced words and lost meanings reciprocate opportunities for humor, poetry, and new interpretations. These moments of linguistic slippage reveal the fluidity of meaning, reminding us that symbols are not fixed but are constantly reshaped by context, culture, and individual experience.

The human mind, as Susanne K. Langer observed, is a ceaseless generator of symbolic transformations, a wellspring of ideas that arise from the raw data of experience. This process, inherently human, culminates in actions that are uniquely our own; rituals, art, laughter, speech, and even superstition. These expressions, which set us apart from other creatures, are not mere byproducts of cognition but are fundamental to how we construct meaning, remember, and interpret the world around us. Langer challenges the conventional view of language as a transparent medium, instead positioning symbolization at the core of human consciousness. It is through symbols, she argues, that we navigate the complexities of our inner and outer realities, transcending the limitations of discursive language to access realms of thought and meaning that lie beyond ordinary logic.
